Tecon Santos, operated by Santos Brasil, reached its  highest ever productivity figure in August: an average of 80.38 MPH (container movements per hour) per ship,  almost 40% more than the 58.05 MPH recorded in January.  All in all, a total of 83,805 containers on 109 ships were handled in the period.  Since the beginning  of the year, the terminal has been beating successive productivity records, so much so that  the annual target of 70 MPH was achieved in May.

The program seeks to improve the quality of public education through continuing education for teachers and remodeling school infrastructure.

The strong increase in international trade, the appreciation of the Brazilian Real and Santos Brasil's continuous investments in infrastructure, technology and people were reflected in the Company's 1Q11 handled container volume numbers. Between January and March, the Company's terminals - Tecon Santos (SP), Tecon Imbituba (SC) and Tecon Vila do Conde (PA) - handled 226,999 containers, a substantial 30.8% up on the first three months of 2010.

Productivity increases by more than 30% in Tecon Santos over December 2010

Santos Brasil, the country's largest container operator and logistics provider, recorded a net income of R$ 865.5 million in 2010, an increase of 31% compared with the R$ 660.8 million recorded in 2009. Net profit for the period was R$ 112.0 million - a 72% increase compared with the result for the previous year. The recurring EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization), which does not consider costs with provision for non-recurring expenses, was R$ 328.1 million, with a 37.9% margin and a 49.3% increase on 2009.

Santos Brasil will sponsor one of the world's greatest theater performances to take place on the beach: The Encenação da Vila de São Vicente. The historical reenactment that tells the story of the foundation of the first city in Brazil, which has been held for twenty-nine years, this year gained the approval of the Ministry of culture to apply for resources through the Federal Law for the Promotion of Culture (Rounet). Santos Brasil selected the project as part of its strategy of investing in actions of socioenvironmental responsibility geared towards the communities in its area of influence.

Santos Brasil has developed its own management and tax reconciliation system, called SAFI (Tax Administration System). This pioneering solution was put into operation at the Distribution Centers of the company in São Bernardo do Campo and Jaguaré (SP).
