Santos Brasil´s Sustainability Policy is aligned with the principles of the UN Global Compact. The document is a reference for the Company´s actions and guides its strategy, which is directed to four key subjects:
- HEALTH AND SAFETY
As a reference in port security, we invest in programs and training for promoting a healthy and safe workplace for professionals and partners working in our premises. In addition, we encourage integrated actions by all agents and influencers in our operations area.
- CO2 EMISSIONS, WATER and RESIDUES
When we talk about handling containers, our main indicator is CO2 emission per TEU. The more efficient the operation, the lower the consumption of fuel and power, and consequently the lower the emission of greenhouse gases such as CO2.
With regard to water resources, we prioritize stakeholder awareness, as well as promote innovation in some internal processes, such as the Dry Cleaning of our road vehicles, to contribute to reducing water consumption and avoiding waste. We also invest in a Waste Management Program focused on reducing residue generation at source through responsible purchasing, in addition to ensuring a correct destination.
- TRANSPARENCY AND ANTI-CORRUPTION PRACTICES
We are committed to operating in accordance with the highest ethical standards and strive for transparency in our relationship with all our audiences. In order to express this commitment and regulate its application, the company relies on important tools such as its Code of Conduct, its Compliance Policy and the Confidential Portal, an externally administrated denunciation channel.
- HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
We invest in projects and programs aligned with the identity of our business in the communities surrounding our operations, guided by our Sustainability and Private Social Investment Policy, which is focused on human development and social inclusion, primarily through education.
