From October 24 to 29, Santos Brasil will organize a series of lectures at Tecon Santos, the largest container terminal in Latin America, to educate their employees about the importance of breast and prostate cancer prevention. These activities are part of the 12th Jornada Atitude Segura, an internal initiative for disseminating safety, health, quality of life and environment concepts. This edition will support the Pink October and Blue November causes.
The program includes conversations with doctors for clarifying doubts, tips on nutrition, body care, instructions for self-examination, blood pressure measurement, weight evaluation, waist circumference measurement, and distribution of campaign ribbons. On Saturday (29), there will be a zumba class on the Boqueirão beach in Santos for employees and their families, from 9:30 am.
"We took advantage of the traditional October and November awareness campaigns to stress the importance of cancer prevention, because well-being in the workplace is also associated with body care and health", says Santos Brasil Quality Safety, Health and Environment (QSSMA) Manager Hemerson Braga.
Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. Prostate tumors are the ones with the highest incidence in men in Brazil. According to National Cancer Institute (INCA) data, 57,960 new breast cancer cases and 61,200 new prostate cancer cases are expected to appear in the country in 2016.
